Overseas marriage

Getting married in Prague is proving to be lots of fun...

  • Fill in the marriage request for the Czech authorities
  • Declare the marriage to your local Registrar
  • Wait 21 days for your "No Impediment" certificates (£30 each)
  • Post these and your Birth Certificates to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for Legalisation (10 days and £12 per document)
  • Send Legalised documents to Czech Republic for translation and legal preparation (21 days)
  • Meet Czech police 3 days before wedding (REALLY don't know what that involves... hopefully not cavity searches...)
  • Present all documentation to Czech Registrar on day of wedding and hope to hell that it's all up to scratch.

It better be a damn good wedding after all this grief.
